To All Students, Faculty, and Staff:

Due to the weather conditions, classes and events scheduled for Monday, March 2 have been cancelled. This applies to Stony Brook, SB Southampton and SB Manhattan campuses. University Police anticipate that driving conditions will be treacherous and urge you to use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Please note that only the Governor of New York State can close state offices, agencies, and campuses. While offices remain open, classes may be cancelled. When offices are open, employees are expected to report to work. During emergencies non-essential employees may request supervisory approval to charge their accruals when offices are open. Essential employees must report in accordance with their schedules. Please note, University Hospital and the Long Island State Veterans Home employees are all deemed ‘Essential’ and therefore must report to work.

In the case of rapidly deteriorating weather conditions, which can occur during the work day, a non-essential employee who wishes to leave early may secure supervisory approval, and charge this time to appropriate accruals.

The Emergency Operations Center will continue to monitor the latest forecasts and periodically provide updates regarding cancellations and conditions related to the storm.

Hope that makes everyone happy! Enjoy your snow day!
